The Best Goggles For Dirt Bikes in 2020 | Ultimate Buyers Guide

When searching for the best dirt bike goggles to fit your riding style, you should consider a few variables.

  1. Your riding environment – Depending on whether you ride in hot or cold weather can play a role in which dirt bike goggles you should choose. If you are in a hot environment then you should look for a goggle that has great ventilation and high quality foam that will soak up sweat to avoid it getting in your eyes.
  2. The style of riding you do – If you race or ride motocross you will want to find a goggle that has tear off lenses available. Some goggles do not have the option to put tear offs on them. Having clear vision during a race is super important so don’t think you can skip out on using tear offs. If you are just looking to trail ride or hit the track on the weekend then this might not be a priority for you.
  3. Value compared to cost – We all have different budgets and not everyone can afford the top shelf goggles. I like to take into consideration all of the features of each goggle and weigh the pros and cons compared to the price. Thankfully there are some great options out there that don’t force you to break the bank.

In a hurry to know the BEST goggles? Here’s a quick breakdown of the goggles I would grab in in 2020.

#1

100% Strata MX Goggles

These have reached the top of the list for overall goggles. best dirt bike goggles 2019 strata 100% motocross ventilation sweat absorption

100% has put a lot of effort into the design and quality of their dirt bike goggles, this is something I can get behind.

Many of the brands such as Oakley and Smith have outdated designs that just don’t have that “cool” factor.

We all know if you want to go fast you have to look fast!

On a real note, these are the best goggles you can get for around $35.00, They come with a tinted lens. The tinted lens isn’t very light sensitive so keep a clear lens handy.

These are the lower end 100% goggles but still hold their own when were talking comfort, durability, ventilation and design.

If you want the higher end goggles from 100% I would recommend going with the Racecraft

#2

Oakley Crowbar MX Dirt Bike Goggles

When style and design meet

Oakley Crowbar MX Adult Off-Road Motorcycle best dirt bike goggles 2019

Conventional lenses can magnify images but the HDO precision lens gives less distorted vision across the entire field of view

With regular lenses, objects aren’t really where you see them. HDO offers a true visual image so your brain won’t have to make any adjustments

All Oakley lenses block 100% Of UVA, UVB and UVC rays as well as harmful blue light up to 400 nm.

These goggles are very stylish so naturally you will go faster.

They do have tear off pins so you can stay race ready!

A great goggle by a great brand, definitely deserve their spot on the list.

#3

100% RACECRAFT Dirt Bike Goggles

Best mid pack gogglesracecraft 100% best dirt bike goggles 2019 motocross enudro harescramble

In my opinion these are one of the best mid priced dirt bike goggles on the market. 100% has really put some effort into the design.

These give great peripheral vision and fit very well to the open face of the helmet.

They have a triple layer of foam, two of the layers are different densities while the third layer is a plush felt liner for comfort and sweat absorption.

They have many different lens options for whatever style suits your gear.

Of course they have tear off pins to backup their name “RACECRAFT”. They can stack a lot of tear offs before your vision begins to blur. Many more than most other brands.

45mm wide strap to keep them on super snug during your ride. Cool designed straps to keep you looking fresh on the track.

All around a great goggle that I don’t think you would be disappointed with.

#4

Smith Optics Fuel V.2 Dirt Bike Goggles

Cheapest Roll Off Goggles Out Theresmith best off-road dirt bike goggles 2019

Smith goggles have been around for a long time and they have stood their ground as a front runner in the industry.

Not always the most stylish goggles on the market but where they lack in style they make up for in quality.

Durable goggles that will last through many seasons of riding.

These are the cheapest goggles you can find that will allow you to attach roll offs. (they do not come with roll offs, sold separately).

3 layered Face Foam for a comfortable fit that will absorb sweat.

Even though they are made for roll offs you can still put tear offs on them.

Very dust resistant for those dry hot days out on the track.

I recommend these if you are in need of a cost efficient roll off ready goggle.

#5

100% Armega Dirt Bike Goggles

These are the top shelf goggles on the list100% armega goggles 40mm strap

WOW!!! 100% really outdid themselves with these dirt bike goggles. Not only do they look the part they play the part!

100% wanted to really show us how much they care about the lens quality with the Armega model.

The only reason that they are so low on the list is due to their price point being higher than most people are willing to spend. Sometimes you pay for what you get though and I don’t think these goggles would disappoint.

They have an ultra HD optically correct lens that is high impact resistant. I would bet it’s the toughest lens on the market.

Rumors say they can stop a 22. bullet but I wouldn’t recommend putting that to the test! (I cannot confirm this myself) regardless they are some tough lenses.

Hi-flow direct injected air intake ports to eliminate humidity and prevent fog build up.

They have even put in hi-flow air intake ports around the face foam to ad some cooling.

45mm ultra wide strap to keep them as snug as any goggle out there.

Plush 3d molded face foam that is triple layered and fully perforated.

The nose guard can be removed if desired. Some people with larger than average honkers have complained about it rubbing on their nose. Simple fix, just remove it.

If it’s even a question, yes they have tear off pins on the lens. 100% really thought of everything when they made these goggles.

These are at the top of my list for premium goggles, if you can afford them you should get them.

100% also has a great 45 day return policy if you keep the packaging and have a receipt. So don’t throw that box away if you are indecisive or have’t tested them out yet.

#6

100% Accuri OTG Adult Off-Road Goggles

One of the best OTG out there

100% accuri over the glasses motocross

100% does it again, another goggle on the list.

OTG = Over The Glasses

These goggles have plenty of room to fit your glasses inside of the expanded eye port, even some of the larger framed glasses.

They come with the standard 100% quality and durability you would expect from this manufacturer. I haven’t received a pair I haven’t loved yet.

Over-sized 45mm strap to keep them snug on your helmet while riding.

Of course they have the triple layered foam to soak up sweat and feel comfortable on your face.

They have a widened nose bridge foam that still conforms to the face well while providing an anti-fog solution.

A lot of riders wear glasses under their goggles and have a hard time finding a nice pair, look no further.

#7

Oakley O-Frame MX Goggles

One of the cheapest name brand goggles on the marketbest dirt bike goggles 2019 oakley o frame motocross

These are one of the most popular dirt bike goggles ever sold. They have been around as long as the Enduro model.

The only thing you are not getting with these goggles is a tinted or ventilated lens.

They do however, come with tear off pins and a solid fit to the helmet.

They have nice foam padding that will feel comfortable and soak up sweat.

These were the first goggles I owned as a kid and have had several pair over the years.

Best choice for those looking for a cheaper name brand goggle.

They have clear and dark grey lens options. A few different styles to choose from. I personally like the carbon fiber framed ones.

Why to Avoid Cheap Dirt Bike Goggles

If you are new to dirt biking you might not know all of the brands that are out there. Most experienced riders have come across most of the popular “brands”. I use quotes on “brand” because there are several “brands” who specialize in motorcycle gear.

These brands do not put as much effort into the quality of Goggles that they sell. Fox, Thor, Smith are some brands I find guilty of this.

The price difference of a higher end goggle isn’t enough to convince me to alter my top picks to the cheaper brands.

I love a good deal as much as anyone else but this is a piece of gear I don’t recommend going to the bottom of the barrel for.

Cheaper goggles lenses are not usually durable, scratch easily and are not cheap to have replaced.

They usually haven’t designed the ventilation system well and will cause your face to overheat and begin sweating. Next thing you know your goggles are all fogged up and you can’t see.

Lens Quality: UV Ray Protection

Most cheaper goggles will not come with lenses that have UV Ray Protection. This can cause damage to your eyes over time. Light sensitive lenses work well for riding places where it goes from shadows to sunlight. It’s nice to have a lens that automatically dulls when the sun isn’t beaming on them but protects your eyes without causing you to squint when in the sun.

My Top Pick: 100% Strata MX Goggles

These are the best goggles for the money in my opinion. They come with a stylish design, durability, lens quality and comfort. All around great goggles especially for the money!

Tons of Color Options to choose from

One of my favorite things about 100% goggles is that their lenses fit all their goggle models.

So if you bought a pair of Strata goggles and Racecraft goggles then you could swap their lenses.

Superior Design to all other brands (in my opinion)

There are a lot of Pro Motocross/Supercross Riders that wear 100% goggles and they speak very highly of them. Here are a few of the guys that are sponsored by 100%. Go check out their team here.

  • Cooper Webb (Current 450 Supercross Champion)
  • Dylan Ferrandis (Current 250 Supercross West Champion)
  • Cole Seely
  • Colt Nichols
  • Christian Craig
  • Chase Sexton
  • Justin Cooper
  • Dean Wilson
  • Marvin Musquin

Lens Durability

The lenses are made from Lexan and provide great protection while being scratch resistant, and anti-fog.

The Lexan which is a polycarbonate resin thermoplastic is very flexible as well and will mold with the frames for a snug fit to your face and helmet.

The lens has two tear off pins and can hold up to 28 tear offs. This ensures that you have plenty to go through so you can eat some roost and make that pass without worry.

Flexible Frames

There are many goggles out there that are very rigid and do not conform to the helmet well.

You want the goggles to be flexible and fit tightly in the open face area of the helmet. Not only will this give you comfort but it will also provide a greater resistance to dirt and dust getting inside your goggles.

100% Strata MX Goggles are great for flexibility. The frames are made of urethane which gives the flexibility while maintaining the durability.

High Quality Strap

The straps on the 100% Strata MX Goggles are very well made. They have silicone beads that grip the helmet without allowing it to slip while riding. The straps are 40mm in width and adjustable in length.

Moisture-Wicking Foam

The Strata MX goggles are well ventilated with their double layered face foam but also wick away sweat and water very well.

They vent very well which leads to you not sweating as profusely but also absorb any of the sweat you do produce.

This ventilation also prevents that nasty fog from building up inside.

Can’t ask for much more from a goggle with this low of a price point, very impressed.

Tips for Dirt Bike Goggle Fog Prevention

Everyone has experienced goggles fogging up on them at one point or another. This is annoying and also dangerous.

Riding in a colder climate while your face is hot and sweating can lead to this. It is very important to have a pair of goggles with good ventilation. If there is air flow between your face and goggles then you shouldn’t experience this often.

  1. The best thing you can do without replacing your lens is to get some good ol’ Quick Spit. After applying this to my goggles I haven’t had issues with fog build up.I usually put more on every 5 or 6 rides which is a lot less frequent than using the dish soap method mentioned below. Amazon link for Quick Spit
  2. Putting dish soap on your lens on the inside and out will help prevent fog build up. Try applying the soap and rub it in until it’s dry. Use a soft cloth that wont scratch your lens.
  3. Try a new lens for your goggles that is vented, a good example of this is the Oakley O-frames and the Oakley enduro model that come with a vented lens. If you have a vented lens and are still experiencing problems with fog I would recommend trying some of the anti-fog spray.

I hope these reviews helped you decide on a reliable pair of goggles for your moto adventures.
